Georgia Okeeffe's Oriental Poppies

Georgia O'Keeffe
Oriental Poppy

Portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe

Below is Oriental Poppy in acrylics. My mixed class of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade
Students are working on 16 x 20 mounted canvas.

The next three are from my kindergarten class.
We practiced drawing first... then traced the drawing with black glue.
Black glue is easy to make.
Elmer's 4 fl oz. glue bottle 3/4 full. Finish filling glue bottle with liquitex Basics acrylic black paint. or any desired color. mix well!

After glue is dry,
The students used water color paint to create their own version of Georgia O'Keeffe Poppies.
( the flowers that fall off the paper!)

Next, My kinder-kiddos and preschoolers assembled a pop art version of Poppies.
I have yet to learn to KEEP IT SIMPLE. That was a lot of prep work.
News paper glued to card stock. Then painted with a wash.

I cut out most of the project
because my preschoolers are still mastering the art of scissors!

The students had the freedom to arrange the Poppies as they wanted.

Of course a few butterfly stickers created big smiles.
